Kidz Rainbow Specialized Programs

Kidz Rainbow Center provides care and educational services for children with special needs. Before enrolling your child into one of our specialized programs, a team meeting must be scheduled to discuss your child's Individualized Service Plan (IFP) or Individualized Education Plan (IEP). If one does not exist, Kidz Rainbow Center will work with you to develop one. Goals and objectives will be established. Parents or legal guardians must participate in the meetings and be willing to continue to work with their child at home in the evenings and on weekends. A child cannot make progress if parents do not adhere to the IFP/IEP and fulfill their responsibilities at home.

Autism

Discovering that your child has autism can be overwhelming and confusing, leaving a parent with many questions and fears. Over a generation ago, many people with autisim were placed in institutions. However, the picture is much brighter today and professionals have a better understanding and are better educated about autism, helping to provide specific services and support. With appropriate services, training and information, children with autism will grow and learn, though at times at a different rate than others.

While there seems to be no cure for autism, there are treatments and educational approaches that may reduce some of the challenges associated with autism. Interventions may help to lesson disruptive behaviors and education can teach self-help skills that allow for greater independence. Treatment must be tailored to the child's individual behaviors and needs and must be implemented both at home and school in order to have any kind of success.

It is important that you gather information concerning your child's options to help you make a decision concerning your child's treatment and education. You live with your child day by day, you know his/her needs and you will come to know his/her autism.

Children with autism have a developmental disability, a disorder of communication which manifests itself differently in each child. Your child's academic goals need to be tailored to his/her intellectual ability and functioning level. Some children may need help in understanding social situations and developing appropriate responses. Others may exhibit aggressive or self-injurious behaviors and need assistance managing that behavior.

No one program will meet the needs of all children, however it is important to find the program that best fits you and your child's needs. Treatment approaches and educational programs should be tailored to your child's individual needs and should be flexible and re-evaluated regularly.

Sensory Room

All children have sensory needs. This room is specially designed to provide space for children to explore and apply sensory integration which helps children to relax and fulfill needs that are unseen and unrecognized. This space will provide daily therapeutic interventions for children who are on the autism spectrum.
